no, no, not the psychoactive drug!!!!......the "coarse mixture of ingredients" as stated by wikipedia!    here, the ingredients were...
ground venison - 8 ounces (lean beef, turkey, or bison works just as well)
olive oil - 1 tbsp
baby gold potatoes - 12 ounces, small dice (i quartered them)
onion scapes or green onion - 1/4 cup finely chopped
garlic - one clove, minced
kohlrabi greens - 2 cups, roughly chopped (could also do collards, kale, or any other green)
salt/pepper - to taste, i did about 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper
veg stock - 1/4 cup (chicken stock works just as well)
fresh herbs - parsley, basil, dill - 2 tbsp roughly chopped (optional, can use all three or just one)
fresh parm cheese
- 2 tbsp, grated

start by browning the meat.  once all the pink is gone, remove it from the pan, add the olive oil, and the onions, garlic, and potatoes.  season with the salt and pepper.  cook this mixture over medium high heat, stirring occasionally, and allow a light brown crust to form on the potatoes.  once the potatoes are brown and slightly crusty, add the meat back in, along with the greens and the stock.  reduce heat to medium low, cover, and allow greens to steam for about 5 minutes.  once greens have wilted a bit, add half of the herbs, saving the other half for topping after it has been plated, cook 1-2 minutes more, stirring frequently. 

when chopping up fresh herbs, pile them up, then roll/bunch them together tightly, and roll your chef's knife back and forth over the bunch, watching out for your fingers!, until the herbs are evening chopped.

this makes two pretty big servings!  pile high on the plates and serve with a whole grain roll.


this would be an amazing breakfast dish as well!  Ryan actually commented that a fried egg would make it even better....now why didn't i think of that?!

i had a glass of wine instead :)


i have had "greens" so much this week!  and it will continue next week...still got some swiss chard, beet greens, and kale left!  i do think i am getting my antioxidants! 

GREAT morning so far!....super circuit class, then twilight 5K with a time of 22:52...don't think it is a PR, but felt good.  there were a lot of fast folks out this morning, so i didn't place in my age group.  about to rest for a bit, then get ready to head out to the Good Food Block Party at Farm 255, then Twilight bike race tonight!   have a wonderful weekend all!
