ok, ok, i guess you can call it "dieting"   as much as i HATE using that term, i am in fact on a diet to lose weight!   why you ask?  well, most of you know, and some of you may not know, i occasionally compete in "figure" competitions and in order to be competitive, you must be lean or in other words, have a low body fat.  if you are unfamiliar with this, just check out MY WEBSITE  and look at some pics!  i am very very content with my weight right now.  i have a very solid nutrition lifestyle and have worked hard to get to this point for a number of years.  many figure competitors eat one way in the "off-season" and then totally change it up when they start "dieting"  i have come to realize after years of experience and practice, that this is out right STUPID!  there is no super secret way of dieting.  there is no reason to restrict certain things from a prep diet.  and not only do i see this in the figure world, but i see it in the regular world as well.  many people, mostly women, come to me to find "the secret".  after some months of coaching, they begin to realize that all the TV ads, diet books, and weight loss supps are pretty much crap!  now, i hope you see that i bolded the word "begin"  because this is an on-going process!  i am still learning!  i am writing this blog because i hope to show you out there who do follow me on occasion, figure competitors and non-figure competitors, that even though i am going through a fat/weight loss stage right now as i prep for figure nationals in october, i am not on any special "diet" and i am going to keep eating my super nutrient dense foods just like before.  i am still focusing on my health, i am still keeping my variety high, i am still eating carbs!, i am still going to eat many different types of fruits and veggies, i am still going to eat a little something sweet after dinner!, i am still going to take "breaks", and i am still going to keep my sanity!   is it going to be a walk in the park...hell no!  there is definitely some sacrifice....i know there will be times when i want those 2 fig newmans that ryan almost always eats after lunch, but my piece of fruit will have to suffice!  will i be hungry....hell yes!  i am already going hungry...is that a bad thing?...no!....why?....well, i am eating 6-7x a day, i am getting whole grains, adequate protein, lots of fruits and veggies, good fats, tons of water, and am not overdoing it on the cardiovascular exercise....i am being smart!  hunger here and there is a part of the process.  so what am i mainly doing to loss weight?  eating less and cutting out the "extras".  is it really that simple?  yes and no.  if you are at the place i am at now in terms of nutrition, than yes, it is that simple.  if you are not, then it may require a little more work.  if you have been reading my blogs for the last 7 months, then you are definitely headed in the right direction!  so, for these few months of prep, i thought i'd post 1-2 meals per week to show you that "dieting" really isn't "dieting" in the sense of restriction and misery!  is there a little more planning involved? oh yes, you do need to do some extra work, ok????  here was my plan for this first week....

i truly enjoyed the meals, but was a little hungry going to bed.   stick with me and see how i keep the variety in my Prep Plan!
