OPEN WATER!.....ok, i am nervous!

Posted by Bree Marsh on Sunday, May 31, 2009,
open water swims are TOTALLY different than swims in the pool!  i did an unplanned one today with ryan...i have got some work to do!  thank-goodness i have 2 more planned...i need um!  i think it is more mental however.  also did a long bike this morning, 26 miles.  last friday i did my last heavy leg workout for a while.  did 4 sets of 6 DLs with 175.  gotta lay off the heavy leg weight training for the next 4 weeks, because they are going to be constantly tight and achy.  will resume after ...

my first 5k and progress PICS!

Posted by Bree Marsh on Monday, May 25, 2009,

yay...this week is recovery...well kinda!  my tri training will taper off a bit, meaning there will not be much structure to the workouts.  just get in the pool and swim, long and slow, and get on the bike and spin, short and sweet.  i will still go to run club, but this week i think we are doing longer stuff, so not as much speed work.  and still in the gym 3x.  so i am not letting up too much, but enough to get my body ready for the next 4 weeks!...which will be pretty hardcore...plus my di...

coffee and recovery week...

Posted by Bree Marsh on Saturday, May 23, 2009,
SO...coffee is officially back in my life!  oh, how i have missed you!  i quit drinking it about 6 months ago because i was just getting sick of it.  i would only drink about 4 oz then pour the rest out.  but it has returned.  green tea just isn't cutting it anymore!  besides giving me that extra energy jolt to get through my highly active day, it also gives me some much needed "flava" in the morn!  i put a little vanilla soy milk in mine.
whew, what a week...thank goodness next week is recove...

update

Posted by Bree Marsh on Tuesday, May 19, 2009,
still going strong!  still very challenging!  got a 20 mile bike in sunday, then shoulders and abs at the gym.  yesterday i did a photo shoot in the morning for an article that will be in a local mag (Athens Magazine) about my husband and I.  don't know exactly how they will swing it.  i pitched an idea to them more along the lines of "amateur athletes pushing their limits" and hoped it would be more geared towards my figure training, but i think they may go in a slightly different direction ...

awesome track workout

Posted by Bree Marsh on Thursday, May 14, 2009,
today, i got up at 5 to get to the track at 5:45am...it was so worth it!  i think i had one of my best speed workouts to date!  we did 8-400s after our mile warmup.  i ran each between 1:30-1:35.  still have some pain in my foot, but not enough to slow me down!  got a bike workout on tap today as well...and a heavy full body weight workout and a swim tomorrow.  saturday is a rest day and i think i may have a "break" meal that night! maybe pizza...yippee!  ryan is racing this weekend, but i am...

over a week down...

Posted by Bree Marsh on Tuesday, May 12, 2009,
and feeling pretty strong!  actually, i am surprised i am not more tired!  my swim and bike training is going really well, my run training is HARD!  but, running never gets easy...that is a myth.  i am also having an issue with the top of my left foot...don't know what is going on, but it hurts.  maybe a stress fracture? (hope not).  good thing i only run 2x/wk.  yesterday, i ran 4 miles, with 2 miles of tempo...and i am going to repeat myself...this is HARD!   gym training and diet are a...

PICS!!!...

Posted by Bree Marsh on Tuesday, May 5, 2009,
just cause everyone loves them!  this is 12 weeks out (this past sunday) from the USAs.  i am feeling pretty good about how i look.  fairly lean starting out (i think!).  have no idea what by bodyfat is, no sense in measuring it!  my weight is around 136-137.
i did my run testout yesterday and am very disappointed!  i was supposed to do 3 miles, but only did 2.  for some reason it was super hard!  i MUST get my fitness level up in the discipline!  hopefully it will improve as time goes on.

It is so ON!

Posted by Bree Marsh on Sunday, May 3, 2009,
Prep has OFFICIALLY begun!  started my "diet" and hardcore tri training on friday.  i did some testouts to see where my baseline is.  i did a 600 yard swim in ten minutes and a 16 mile bike in 57.5 minutes.  pretty good for a beginner!  however, i do have a higher fitness level than most to start with.  my run testout is tomorrow morning.  this is definitely my weakest discipline.  i borrowed a road bike from a friend and am SO happy about it!  dang, it makes such a difference.  i felt like i...
