Posted by Bree Marsh on Monday, June 29, 2009,
here are a couple shots from yesterday.  go to my facebook page if you wana see more!  i also wanted to breakdown my splits for you....1/3 mile swim - 10:23, 18 mile bike - 1:02, 3 mile run - 23:59.  each thing was a challenge for different reasons!  swim - kept running in to people!  my wave was the last wave to go and i kept hitting the slower swimmers in the other waves!  bike - my chain came off which took about 2 minutes off my time, but i felt really good considering.  run - this was ki...

I DID IT!....

Posted by Bree Marsh on Sunday, June 28, 2009,
and did it well!  my first ever triathlon baby!  i had such an amazing time!...except for the part where my frickin chain came off during the bike, but i kept my cool, pulled over for a minute or two and wrestled it back on!  so, i could have had an even faster bike split if it wasn't for that!  i finished the 1/3 mile swim, 18 mile bike (although my bike computer said it was about 18.5!) and 3 mile run, which was killer, in 1:41:06.  i came in 5th place in my age group out of 144!!!  i met s...

I AM READY!

Posted by Bree Marsh on Friday, June 26, 2009,
one more day til my first triathlon!  i feel very ready, but still very nervous.  the last few days have been very interesting for me...this is going to be hard to explain, but i will try my best!   i have been very emotional when i have been by myself this past week, almost brought to tears reflecting on my choice to try something new.  and i have been very inspired by my own hard work and enjoyment of this process as well as by others doing what they love to do or attempting something new t...

one week out...then i can relax...wait, hold on!...then i got 4 more weeks to figure!!!!

Posted by Bree Marsh on Saturday, June 20, 2009,
yes, one more week til my tri!  i am getting really excited and NERVOUS!  i feel ready!  did another open water swim yesterday and felt really good about my fitness level, my stroke, and my mental outlook.  i am definitely going to be nervous about the swim, with all the people around me, but i feel i am strong enough now to get out near the front early on and build up my speed toward the end.  this past week has been rough. my energy is definitely decreasing a bit.  i am having an easy week ...

whew, what a week and....PICS, peeps

Posted by Bree Marsh on Saturday, June 13, 2009,
what a great training week.  i improved significantly on everything!  my track workout kicked ass, i ran a 7:16 mile + 4-400s b/w 1:30-1:40.  i did a 15 continuous swim yesterday, getting 1000 yards, which is a 100 yard increase from last time.  my weight is down to 128 today!....don't really know how i feel about that!  i wanted to be about this weight for my tri (which is in 2 weeks) so i am ahead of schedule!   just taking it day by day, i guess.  if i start losing too much too fast, then ...

the hazards of biking and my tri is televised!

Posted by Bree Marsh on Thursday, June 11, 2009,
i just found out today that the tri i am competing in (Irongirl, Atlanta) will be televised...Airing on August 23!  pretty cool.  i will probably forget to watch!  getting really excited about it now.  about 2.5 weeks!
so, recently i have figured out that the dangers of biking are not cars, but animals!  so far, i have almost ran over two squirrels, a dog almost knocked me over, and a deer ran out right in front of me!  yikes!  what next?  maybe a wild boar or bobcat!
i have been feeling so...

weekend report

Posted by Bree Marsh on Monday, June 8, 2009,
camped in greenwood, sc this weekend for ry's tri.  did another open water swim and got my confidence up a bit.  it is a mental challenge for sure.  ryan had a great race, but got a 2 minute penalty in the bike, which bumped him from 1st to 3rd in his age group :(   he was happy with his time and his improvements from last year.  today, i did a 30 minute tempo run (not including warmup and cooldown) at 8:30min/mile pace.  felt good, really pushed it at the end after a long steady hill...man, ...

Posted by Bree Marsh on Saturday, June 6, 2009,
oh shiznit...it is on like donkey kong these next few weeks...kickin it up a notch fo sure!  hehe
did my first TRUE brick today (bike to run) and it was awesome.  biked 28 miles, then ran 10 minutes at about 7.2 mph...actually felt really good!  however, your legs do feel like bricks when you first start the run, but that lets up a bit once you get in your groove.  this definitely gave me more confidence about my fitness level.  it is comin up!  got an open water swim planned today as well...o...
