Vegas report!

so finally settled and starting to get back on track after a long weekend in vegas!  overall, it was a great trip!  vegas is definitely a different lifestyle....not one that i'd like to go back to any time soon, but it was very fun while we were there.  arrived thursday late, just in time to make the meeting/check-in.  it was packed out!  found out that my class was the 2nd largest with about 40 competitors, which didn't phase me very much because i knew i was looking the best i ever looked!!...

today's the day....

about to leave for vegas baby!  i am ready!   i was ready last week.  just tried to maintain this week and do as little cardio as possible!  i am sitting right where i wanted to be, so now it is all up to the stage!   i have high hopes, but this is FIGURE!  ready to have some fun and eat and drink alot!  this was a very good prep ultimately!   i trained for a tri and a figure show at the same time....i did awesome in the tri....i feel great about how i look for the show....i stayed healthy......

one more week!

well, aside from the fact that i am getting sick, i feel pretty good, LOL!  i think i am 99.9% ready!  it is so nice to be ready early!  hopefully my sore throat will not matriculate into something worse in the next few days!  can't tell how much different i will look compared to last season, but my waist is smaller (25"), my weight is lower (~123), and i feel more conditioned, but in the end, the stage will ultimately tell!  getting excited!  haven't been able to practice my posing as much a...

Mental toughness...

is often misused in competitive arenas!  it is often associated with or mistaken for stubbornness!  to me, these are two separate things and there is a time to push and there is a time to back off.  sometimes when we constantly push, when we shouldn't, we increase our risk for illness and injury and take the fun out of our sport.  sometimes a small injury or sickness can be a blessing in disguise (if treated correctly), because it allows our body to rest, we can decrease our inflammation, we ...

Do you train brainlessly?

so, many figure competitors and triathletes have coaches/trainers, right?  and they should follow the programs the trainer writes out for them, right?  and they shouldn't question the trainer's plan, they should just trust them and do it, right? WRONG!  this is what i see time and time again, even if someone isn't working with a trainer, but is following a plan they themselves may have come up with at the beginning of their prep...they want to follow it to a T even if it is not working the wa...
